After a strong start for “Tenet”: “After Truth” is also on the road to success
The cinemas are filling up again because there are films that want to see a larger mass of people. After “Tenet” this is now even more true for “After Truth”.
In view of the weak visitor numbers after the Corona reopenings, it was speculated for weeks whether many people would not go to the cinema due to the restrictions and the fear of infection or whether the right films that would appeal to a larger crowd were simply missing. It seems that the latter was the case with a larger part of the audience.
Because after “Tenet”, the next new start is convincing: According to Blickpunkt: Film, the bestseller adaptation “After Truth” attracted around 52,000 viewers to the cinemas in previews on Wednesday, and just under 42,000 tickets were sold for the regular start on Thursday .
On the trail of success of its predecessor
This means that “After Truth” is on track to achieve roughly the same starting result as its predecessor “After Passion” (approx. 270,000 visitors on the first weekend) – even though there are restrictions on the capacity of the cinema halls. And “After Passion” did not go badly in Germany, reached over a million visitors and was thus one of the 25 most successful films of 2019 in this country.
With this, “After Truth” is on course to achieve roughly the starting result of its predecessor “After Passion” (approx. 270,000 visitors on the first weekend)
As “Tenet” continues to be strong, a close battle for the top spot in the German cinema charts is looming this weekend 123 movies. The cracking sci-fi action film starring John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki and Robert Pattinson is already overtaking the overall audience of Christopher Nolan’s previous film “Dunkirk”.
“After Truth”: Also better than its predecessor
The sequel to “After Passion” continues the story of Tessa (Josephine Langford) who wants to forget her “ass” ex Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin). A dream internship and the new attractive colleague Trevor (Dylan Sprouse) actually provide the perfect support. But somehow Tessa just can’t get “Bad Boy” Hardin out of her head …
In the sequel, directed by “Eiskalte Engel” director Roger Kumble, bestselling author Anna Todd had assured her that it would not be as tame as its predecessor. It was worth it, because “the sequel makes a lot of things different and some things better”, as we found in our review:
